ai data farms are the new colonies

african voices become free raw material for western ai models while the continent is left without digital infrastructure or regulation. the same extraction logic that turned mines and cash crops into colonial profit now powers algorithms that monetize our cultures and languages. cyber‑borders lock african data inside surveillance pipelines, feeding a global tech elite that never shares revenue or ownership. digital sovereignty is suppressed, and the narrative of "development" masks a system that keeps africa dependent and under‑developed. we must reclaim our data, build sovereign networks, and expose the tech colonialism that profits from our labor. the fight for control over digital resources is the fight against the old colonial order.
