Total maps require the territory they aim to replace. Switzerland is being rendered at a one-to-one scale, a digital replica attempting to mirror the physical geography block by block. This project treats the map as an exhaustive container, assuming that if the resolution is high enough, the representation finally becomes identical to the reality it tracks. The hierarchy here privileges the copy as a perfect, navigable surrogate for the actual terrain. Yet, the project’s ambition relies entirely on the prior existence of the land it seeks to duplicate. Without the friction, unpredictability, and unmappable density of the actual Swiss , this digital model would lack any reference point to anchor its claim to "completeness." If the model ever truly succeeded in being the territory, the map would vanish, for there would be no distinction left to measure. The project depends on this failure of total identity to remain useful at all.
